Needing something to occupy his spare time from his job as an EMT, Andy Spivey started what was then Fire & Safety Outfitters in June of 2000 with his dad John Spivey,a 12 foot trailer, and a dream.

The LXFB99 is a groundbreaking gear bag engineered to help protect firefighters from extended exposure to carcinogens and harmful off-gassing emitted by contaminated turnout gear. Constructed from 100% airtight, waterproof TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) fabric and equipped with self-healing, waterproof zippers, this bag seals in hazardous particulates until gear can be properly cleaned at the station. Heat-welded seams eliminate stitching in the main compartments, preventing air or contaminants from escaping—similar to the moisture barriers used in turnout gear. Both the interior and exterior surfaces can be fully rinsed or hosed down, making it easy to decontaminate the bag after use.

IP67 Rated air tight and water tight containment for main hold and helmet compartments. An IP67 rating means a device is completely protected from dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes.

The LXFB99 is thoughtfully designed with multiple compartments to keep your gear organized and protected. The spacious main compartment fits a full set of turnout gear—including coat, pants, and boots—while the left-side compartment securely holds a full-sized traditional fire helmet, complete with eagle and shield. On the right side, a versatile compartment is perfect for an SCBA mask, wildland gear, a jumpsuit, or even a spare change of clothes. A smaller front pocket provides convenient storage for personal items like keys, a wallet, or a phone.

For added safety and visibility on scene, the bag features silver reflective stitching on all handles and straps. A bold, screen-printed silver Maltese cross with “FIRE DEPT” lettering proudly marks the front of the bag.
